Ski-ing Lessons

I have been a recreational skier for over 14 years now, and I have enjoyed every minute of my time spent on the slopes, both plastic artificial slopes and on snow.

Only recently, have I started taking things a little more seriously and I have completed a Ski Instructors Course that is run by the English Ski Council.  I do most of my teaching at Halifax Ski & Snowboard Centre as it is my local slope.

I specialise in giving lessons to small groups of people (5 or less) from complete beginners to the more advanced skiers.  That's not because I can't do bigger groups, but I feel that this is better for the individual or small group as each skier gets more runs on the slope in the same hour as compared to what you would get in a large group of 15+.

Attention Ski/Snowboard Instructors :-

I am getting many requests for Ski-ing and Boarding lessons that I can not possibly fulfil.  I am therefore looking to build up a list of Qualified Instructors (ESC and BASI) from different slopes in the UK that I can contact, and put them in touch with people who want lessons.  If you are a Qualified Snowsports Instructor and would be interested in this, please e-mail me and let me have your details.   Please Note : At the moment I will only take two instructors for each slope in the UK.  (1 for Ski-ing and 1 for Snowboarding) So first come first served.

bulletIf you are interested in having some lessons, then please contact me to discuss your requirements.
bulletI am free to teach nearly everyday of the week and at anytime of the day.   (I have a very understanding boss!!)
bulletWeekday mornings and early afternoons are usually the best as my local Dry Ski Slope is usually very quiet during these times.
bulletIf you require a series of lessons (prior to a holiday), or longer than 2 hours, please contact me as special rates are available for this.

How To Book Your Lesson

bulletYou can contact me by phone on 07836 561693 or e-mail me at ski-lessons@amc-comm.demon.co.uk   When telephoning or e-mailing, please supply the following information.
bulletYour Name
bulletAddress
bulletContact Telephone Number
bulletPreferred Venue For The Lesson.
bulletA couple of preferred dates and times for your lesson. (These are subject to change as I will have to contact the venue and see if the appropriate slope is free for your preferred dates.  The dates and times will be confirmed before the booking is finalised)
bulletNumber of people in group.
bulletEach persons Height, Weight and Shoe Size.  (This is required to ensure you get the correct size equipment, boots, ski's, etc)
bulletThe e-mail bookings will be confirmed by return of e-mail.
bulletPayments are to be made, cash only, at the start of the lesson at your selected venue.

On The Day Of Your Lesson

bulletPlease turn up 15 - 20 minutes before the lesson starts.  This enables you to get fitted out with the correct boots and ski's.
bulletPlease wear suitable clothing for outdoor weather.  If it is pouring down with rain and blowing a gale, the lesson will still go ahead.  (The only time a lesson will be cancelled is due to very extreme weather, and I will notify you of this before the lesson).   I recommend a pair of waterproof trousers and a sensible coat/jacket.  Please don't wear expensive/fashionable clothes as they may get damaged when you fall over.  Jeans are seriously not advised.
bulletGloves are essential to protect your hands and fingers.
bulletIf it is cold, bring a hat.
bulletSocks are important for your comfort too.  Try and wear a long pair of socks that cover up at least half your calf muscle.  If it is your first lesson, don't worry too much about this, but if you enjoy your first lesson, a good pair of sock are a worthwhile investment.

Terms And Conditions Of A Booking

bulletIf you are going to arrive late, please telephone me and let me know what time you expect to arrive.  As all lessons are scheduled into each slope, if you arrive 10 minutes late for the start of the lesson, and there is another one booked directly after you, your lesson shall only be for the remaining time and the full hours fee is payable.
bulletIf there is extreme weather, and the lifts are closed because of the wind, I shall try and contact you before your lesson to cancel it.  If this happens no fee shall be charged if the lesson is re-booked.  If the lesson is not re-booked, a nominal fee of £5.00 per person shall be charged.
bulletPrices are correct at time of publishing, but are subject to change without prior notice.  (The only prices likely to change are the equipment hire prices at each venue)
bulletPlease note : Ski-ing can be a dangerous sport.  I accept no liability for any injuries sustained whilst you are learning to ski.  If it is your first time ski-ing, tell me when booking and during the lesson I will teach you the proper way to fall to minimise any injuries.
