bulletTheir Website has "Coming Soon!!" signs all over the place.  Get on with it and finish the Website off!! - Update By Bee McGladdery - 23/10/2002 - I have just been on their Website which now appears to be up and running.  It looks very flash with movies, music and flying graphics, etc.  However, all this makes it very slow and difficult to use and difficult to find the information that you want.

Comments About Milton Keynes Xscape

Melanie Timmins - 20/11/2002 It is virtually impossible to get through to this venue to book anything!!!  I would love to give it a try, but I have given up as it is costing me a fortune listening to an automated answering machine!!  GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!!!
Andy Willcock - 15/12/2002 I have just been surfing the newsgroups on ski-ing and snowboarding and found some interesting information regarding Milton Keynes Xscape.  A lot of people are taking their own equipment to use, only to find that the snow is very slow and is leaving black gunk on the bottom of their ski's or boards.  Opinion is split as to what is causing this to happen (it could be anything from the fumes from the diesel powered lifts to the "Back-To-Black" that people use as a wax!!) but whatever is causing it, it is making the snow very slow.  Comments were also made that a Plastic Artificial Slope is better than this batch of snow that they have got.  (Just to point out, this snow is only a few months old!!)  I'll keep you posted of any up-dates.
David Johnson - 16/12/2002 Replies to above posts :-

Melanie - Try phoning during the week at off peak times.  I agree that the waits are terrible when they are busy at the desk.  One time I waited 15 minutes!!  I Guess around now its probably worse.

Andy - I had the same problem but I was told, by one of the Ski Technicians there, that it was due to the ski wax reacting with the chemicals in the snow and this slows you down.  Its much better if you take all the wax off your ski's.

David Johnson - 16/12/2002 I have skied here 6 times.  One of the slopes usually has rails and a jump, though unfortunately they have got more safety conscious and only let you on the jumps etc on certain days, and if they have enough staff to supervise.  Main times for these are Tuesday and Saturday evenings, but sometimes it doesn't happen as the slope isn't prepared or lack of staff.  Even ringing before isn't reliable, which is really frustrating for those who travel a long distance to get there, like me!!  It would definitely be worth the beginner doing a course here before their holiday, and those who haven't skied for a while will get their ski legs back!!  A good skier though might get bored of the slope after a while, which makes the jumps more important.
David Johnson - 07/01/2003 Melanie, I take back what I said. The telephone non-answering service is truly, truly abysmal. I stuck it out through the endlessly recycled Vivaldi clip and Sorry-for-your-wait message for 75minutes before I got an answer. I was then informed by the lady who answered that my hour and a quarter wait was unfortunately quite normal at this time of year!  (To be fair, it only took them a zippy 22 minutes to answer the previous time, but that was early morning, weekday in term-time.) Snowzone, HIRE MORE DESK STAFF or lose your customers.
Steve Buck - 21/01/2003 Is this facility still in business?  If it is, can someone please tell me how as they never answer the phones or reply to e-mails!!
David Johnson - 22/01/2003 **TELEPHONE ISSUE UPDATE***  I think they have listened!!   Response times have improved dramatically.  I have phoned to book 4 times recently and the waits were 2, 2, 9 & 2 minutes each time.  Keep it up!!
Martina Scanlon - 18/02/2003 I am disgusted to have found out that you can not just go to the slopes for a bit of a ski.  You have to have a lesson!!!  But what if you don't need one??
Mark Hamilton - 20/02/2003 I use the Dome 3 to 4 times a month. Sometimes the snow is good, but sometimes it isn't.  My main concern is that too many boarders are getting up to stupid antics, often just showing off!!  Boarders should be kept to one slope only.   One day someone will get seriously hurt or even killed because of the stupidity of these guys, and its not always the younger ones.
David Johnson - 18/03/2003 Reply to Martina.  Yes you can go and ski, just so long as you can make linked turns down the slope.  Since the 2 slopes are fairly narrow, this seems reasonable.  If you cant do linked turns, you do need lessons.
Nigel Piper - 22/06/2003 Why wait in a queue on the phone when you can book on-line??  I know the snow is slow but have you tried warmer waxes??  Mark, its not always boarders that cause problems.  Last week 2 groups of skiers were sent off!!
Stephen Newby - 04/07/2003 Just tried to get through on the phone with no response.  Used the answer service they provide, but no reply!!  If they cant even answer the phone, do I really want to go here with my son??  I'm not sure.
Rachael Bonfield - 20/10/2003 Today, I tried to phone to speak to somebody about corporate events.  I used their website as my main source of information, and phoned 5 different numbers before getting through to anyone!!  This wasted valuable time.
Glen Downer - 26/10/2003 In reply to Mark Hamilton, above.  Its not just boarders that cause problems, and I am disappointed you think like this.  I've often been cut up by a quick skier and had to take evasive action.  I'd love a separate slope to get away from arrogant skiers that think they own the slope.  Another point is not to worry about booking.  I've never done it and only ever had to wait 30 minutes, but that's just enough time to get ready.  I went last night, a busy Saturday night, and had 2 hours of great riding, not too busy, and the snow was thick fast and excellent.
Richard Bryce - 07/11/2003 We have been here a few times and have always been disappointed by the quality of the snow.  We prefer Tamworth, which at least have an icy turn at the top to add a bit of interest, even though we have to pass Milton Keynes to get there!!
