Cant Wait. I have been a keen rider and skier for about 15 years,
and gave up on Dry Slopes about 10 years ago. There is nothing like the real stuff.
If the vertical drop at Castleford is good enough, I might even get around to doing
my ski teaching qualification. (I have been holding off for the past few years with
all sorts of excuses!!) |

Just a quick up-date... The slope is now open!!! The
online booking facility is working, and people are using the slope.
Why do I always have loads of work on at important times like this!!!
Anyway, here's some of the pictures that I have posted earlier.

If you visit Castleford, let me know what you think of it. As soon
as I get this project out of the way, I will be posting my own report
here.... |

I've been here twice now. The first time I had to wait
over an hour to get on the slope, but the second time, I pre-booked, so I
walked in and got my pass straight away. The staff are friendly and
fun and seem to enjoy working there. The main slope is great, you just
have to watch out for people bombing straight down!! The odd idiot
gets on the snow who haven't skied or boarded before, and that is a shame.
Defiantly worth a visit. |

I went here a couple of weeks ago and had a great time.
The run is much shorter than i expected, but it was still quite challenging
in so much as they had built in natural jumps and bumps. As the visibility
was slightly misty, this gave a real effect. It was a quiet day and no
one bothered us about speed so we were able to feel exhilarated.
However, it will never replace the Alps, but it is a good way to keep your
hand in between winter trips to the real thing. |

Yesterday, I had the full day ski lesson. I have never
attempted to ski before , and I was terrified, however the instructor was
great, and I really enjoyed it. We were the first group since it
opened to stick it out for the full 8 hours!! I really feel it
today...I have muscles aching in places I didn't know I had muscles!!
Its not that bad though as I am going again tonight for 2 hours. To
think the nursery slope looked steep when we first arrived, by the end of
the session, we were hurtling down the big slope and loving every minute of
it. |

Went today for the first time. The slope is great but
could be a bit daunting for the beginner who has just learned to snow
plough!! The only thing I didn't like was the lifts. They were
very close to the walls and there want much room at the top to get off.
Other than that, very good. |
